We offer you the opportunity and the challenge to work as a volunteer at the children's home. For example in the context of your study, your internship or for personal reasons, or perhaps as part of your holiday in Kenya.
Many of the orphans have known little or no love and attention in their young lives. Loving attention and guidance will help the children grow up to be stronger persons, who are well capable of coping with life.
The possibilities for you, as a volunteer, are of course largely determined by your education, work and life experience and commitment. In any case it will be an experience that neither you nor the children will ever forget.
Your volunteering at the children's home can easily be combined with other activities, such as a wildlife safari or a visit to Nairobi or Mombasa.

Residence
During the time of your volunteering at the children's home, you can find residence at Watu Wangu Private Lodge, our own accomodation, located approximately three kilometers from the children's home at the other side of the town Tulia. The Lodge is equipped with all the necessary facilities, including nine double huts, a lounge/dining hall and a toilet/bathroom building. Water comes from our own borehole and electricity is available. Stay includes food and water, washing of your clothes, bedding and towels and the unforgetable atmosphere of a Kenyan boma.
Alternatively you may, of course, make your own arrangements for lodging elsewhere.

Costs
The costs amount to 250.00 euros for registration and administration fee plus 30.00 euros per day. This includes pick up and drop off at the airport, stay at Watu Wangu Private Lodge as described above and support during your stay.
If you arrange accomodation elsewhere, the costs amount to 250.00 euros for registration and administration fee plus 10.00 euros per day. This includes pick up and drop off at the airport and support during your stay.
Anything other than described above is not included. This means, you have to book the ticket, arrange for travel insurance, the necessary vaccinations and malaria pills, spending money, etc.. Obviously we will assist with this if necessary.

Fundraising
It is not compulsory, but we urge volunteers to organize a fund raising campaign for the orphanage prior to their trip to Kenya. For example at your school, at work, with your family and friends, your sports or social club, your neighbourhood or town, etc.. Such a campaign will already set you at a high level of commitment even before coming to Kenya, which will benefit your work as a volunteer.
